5 Reasons to Rethink Education Before 2059

What will the world look like in 2059? More importantly, how will we prepare our children for it?

In my book, 2059: The Future of Education, I explore the forces shaping tomorrow and what they demand from us today. Here are five foundational ideas to guide our vision for learning:

1. A Glimpse into 2059: The Orwellian Leap
Thirty-five years from now, society will look fundamentally different. We must begin planning with intention, not prediction.

2. Work Shapes School: A Historical Connection
Throughout history, education has followed the needs of the workplace. The next evolution will be no different.

3. Tomorrow’s Workplace: Key Trends from Futurists
AI, automation, flexible work, shorter work weeks, and lifelong learning are already reshaping the world. Education must keep pace.

4. The Uniquely Human: Beyond the Technology
Our greatest future advantage will not be technical. It will be human. Creativity, ethics, identity, and agency must remain at the center.

5. Our North Star: A Shared Responsibility
Preparing the next generation is not the job of schools alone. It is a responsibility we all share as a society.

The future will not simply happen to us. We will build it.

👉 If you believe our children should be architects of the future rather than passengers of it, I invite you to read 2059: The Future of Education.
